A Sincere Form of Flattery
A few weeks ago Jane Whittred of Mrs Red’s Art Room in Burleigh Heads, Queensland, Australia contacted me via email to ask if she could use one of my rabbit collages as inspiration for a kids art project. She explained that kids in this class are aged 7-12, and that there was a diversity of ability and experience.
All the way from AUSTRALIA people!
Jane said she told her students all about my Paper Paintings Collage Artwork when they started the class and that I had asked her to share with me images what they produced. I wanted to see how they were inspired by my bunnies, what fun! The kids thought it was fun too, to be able to have me take a look at their art work from Mrs. Red’s Art Room class.
Mrs. Red said that it was a great class and that as an art instructor, she loves it when her kids are inspired by someone else’s artworks. She had colour copies as reference for them that included the rabbits, flamingo and a toucan. In addition, Jane showed the students a bunny that she said was boring and without character, which she drew a big cross through.
Jane quickly clarified that the just say no rabbit wasn’t one of mine!
This spring, I have produced several inspired animal collages. I started out with bunnies and deer, then moved on to lambs, sheep, more sheep, and an Easter Bunny. I can see why Mrs. Red was inspired to bring this colorful and fun project to her students. I certainly had fun anticipating warmer weather and spring flowers myself.
Many thanks to all of you who purchased the Spring Series pieces from me. Many thanks to Jane for sharing her Spring inspired class project and sending photos of the kids’ work!
