Last week I spoke to the members of the Women’s Club of Winter Park. About six months ago, they had asked me to give a presentation at their monthly meeting. Of course I was all-in because I love to meet new people, get out of the studio, and talk about art. PLUS they served finger sandwiches and coffee, it was a win-win for sure.
At the end of my presentation, Pam Haack from Off The Beaten Strada approached me with a HUGE smile and said “I run boutique tours in Italy and YOU would be perfect as an art workshop teacher there, combined with day trips and first class transportation! I’m telling you… all that COLOR and LIFE and EXCITEMENT!”
How could I say no? Why would I say no? Pam gave me her card and said she would be in touch. This lady is on the ball, she’s organized and a go-getter for sure. Pam contacted me the next day and said “Let’s meet at Starbucks and hash out a plan” I was all-in for coffee, and she even agreed to come all the way up to Longwood and meet me inside my 3-mile radius. Sweet.
Within a day after our meeting, Pam had a website up and ready to go with photos and all the details of the trip. Like I said, Pam is a go-getter! The itinerary looks amazing! Artists can bring non-artists partners to join them on the trip, they pay a little less for not taking the class, but they enjoy all the same day trips and accommodations.
Look at the details of this trip! Thermal Spa, Cooking Class, Wine Tasting, Italian Paper Making, Archeological Museum, Wining and Dining, All tips included…
My workshop will be 6-days of hand painting papers via a multitude of techniques and then applying those papers over the top of an underpainting to create a very painterly collage. You do NOT need to have any prior collage experience to LOVE this class. Some painting experience is helpful, but not necessary. We will have medium length days in order to enjoy an excursion every afternoon.
I PROMISE you that you will enjoy this class, have fun, and leave with new friends and new inspiration. We laugh, joke and have a good time in my class in the US, can you imagine how much fun we will have in Italy??
Some great perks of this trip that has been arranged so nicely by Pam is that
when you register, you can opt for installment payments. This is nice because you can pay it off before you go! And the rooms at the villa are up for selection on a first-come, first-served basis. Those who sign up first get first dibs on rooms. After the trip is filled, Pam will send out a webpage with a picture and description of each room so that you can choose your own!

It was Kismet that I ran into Pam that day at the Women’s Club of Winter Park. She told me it was only the second time she had ever been there, because after all, she lives in Italy 8 months out of the year! Not only is Pam an excellent tour guide, but she speaks the language and is totally willing to help you plan extra days on this trip in Florence or Rome if you like. All the details for this amazing Paper Paintings workshop and Italy trip are available on Pam’s Website
