Today we hung at the studio and worked on our projects. We’ve been doing a lot of traveling and exploring and so it was time to buckle down and get those collages finished. But… not before having a big beautiful breakfast of fresh fruit, eggs, toast, and pastries with coffee and juice. After all, we are in Italy!
As if that was not enough, shortly after breakfast was our hand made pasta lesson with Antoneta in the kitchen at our villa. Bring out the wood boards and the table legs! It’s pasta making time.
The students love this lesson because we then eat the fruits of our labor for lunch. Chef Adorno paired our pasta with a sauce of wild boar. And boy was it GOOD! Hairy wild boar or not, this pasta would convert anyone to the dark side.
Back to Work!
After all the pasta was rolled paper thin and cut into tagliatelle, we returned to the studio in order to make some progress on our collages. The students are doing a great job on their pieces, all working on an 11×14 sized panel. Each student was encouraged to put their flower into a Tuscan setting, lots of Cypress trees and rolling hills going on.
Time for Lunch!
Everyone worked so diligently on their Paper Paintings project, that I let them break early for lunch and enjoy the product of their post breakfast workout. The pasta was served inside our lovely villa dining room, where we also enjoyed bib lettuce salad with fresh local tomatoes and a variety of cold drinks. After lunch we enjoyed cappuccino’s all around before heading back down to the classroom.
I am such a slave driver.
Tomorrow we will set out on yet another adventure in the morning, with studio time in the afternoon. Stay tuned to learn more about what we will see and do before our last few hours ripping and gluing.
At the end of the day we will have a “show and tell” where we will discuss and view everyone’s projects from the week.
